[YOUTH] The University of Portland's
Michelle Enyeart scored a hat trick to lead the USA to a 4-0 victory over
Trinidad & Tobago Wednesday in the first game of the Concacaf qualifying tournament for the 2008 Under-20 Women's World Cup at Estadio Cuauhtemoc in Puebla, Mexico.
Stanford's
Kelly O'Hara also tallied a first-half goal for the USA, which will continue group play on Friday against Cuba, a 7-0 loser to host Mexico.
"I was proud
of our effort today," said U.S. coach
Tony DiCicco. "I think they had some nerves going into the game as there are always high expectations for a U.S. team.
Trinidad & Tobago really defended well, they have great athleticism and they didn't make it easy for us to get scoring opportunities."
