French star Ribery out up to two months

[EURO '08] French star Franck Ribery, stretchered off early in the Bleus' 2-0 loss to Italy on Tuesday, could miss up to two months with a torn ligament in his left ankle. He also twisted his knee in the clumsy challenge on Gianluca Zambrotta.

Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, the Bayern Munich medical chief, said Ribery would be on the sidelines for "seven to eight weeks." France coach Raymond Domenech added that the extent of his knee injury was still be examined.

"He's walking on crutches," Domenech said. "He can't put his foot down."
