Notre Dame women's coach
Randy Waldrum is coaching the Trinidad and Tobago U-17 women's team that is hosting the Concacaf U-17 qualifying tournament that
begins Friday.
Waldrum, who has a record of 185-29-8 during his nine-year Notre Dame tenure, has been working with the Trinidad & Tobago Federation for the past two summers and has
helped them organize a structure for the women's national team program.
"It's a great honor to be named the coach of the U-17s, and I look forward to the challenge that lies
ahead," says Waldrum. "I've found the people of Trinidad & Tobago to be very friendly and of course very passionate about soccer. This experience at the international level will only help our
program here at Notre Dame, and it gives me a great opportunity to show others what our mission here at Notre Dame is all about."
The tournament will qualify three teams for this year's
inaugural Women's World Cup in New Zealand.
The
USA, coached by Seton
Hall's
Kazbek Tambi, is the favorite.
