With his team mired in an eight-game winless streak (in all competitions) and facing a crucial game against the USL First Division Montreal Impact Tuesday in the Canadian championship competition,
Toronto FC coach John Carver is a tad sensitive.
He went off the Toronto press for what he perceived to be its negative tone. "Some of you guys out there are really negative about this
football club," Carver said after his team managed a 0-0 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday. "I think and wonder. Why hasn't the hockey team won anything? Why hasn't the baseball
team won anything lately? Because I'm coming from the outside. I don't know whether you get your heads together because you don't write good things or nice things or encouraging things. You just
want to write s***. And I wonder if it's not going to affect the other sports."
He was furious with the suggestion that TFC players looked "sluggish" against San Jose. "Every single one
of them has put in a maximum effort for this cause," he said. "That's why I'm annoyed when you start off by saying sluggish performance."
