Yellow card for taking down intruder

  • by Jul 23, 2008
In Saturday's Russian league derby between Lokomotiv Moscow and Spartak Moscow, the referee was forced to stop play in the 74th minute when a shirtless man ran onto the field. Stadium officials were slow to react, so Spartak defender Radoslav Kovac jumped into action.

Kovac gave chase to the intruder, eventually sending the man to the ground with a tackle from behind.

His reward: a hearty cheer from the 24,000 spectators and a yellow card from referee Igor Zakharov.
