Maryland keeps its stars

4. Maryland (10-6-5).
Last year: Maryland lost to Bradley, 3-2, in the NCAA Tournament third round, falling after the Braves scored twice in the last three minutes and then scoring the game-winner in the 109th minute.

This year:
The Terrapins have their most experienced team since 2005. Maryland returns three starters on defense, including 2007 ACC Defensive Player of the Year Omar Gonzalez.

Also back are Rodney Wallace, who can play at either center back or in midfield, Jeremy Hall, the ACC's Freshman of the Year in 2006, and 2007 leading scorer Graham Zusi.

As many as four freshmen could break into the starting lineup, including former U.S. U-17 goalie Zac MacMath. Kaoru Forbess is recovering from a back injury, and his progress will determine his playing time.

Jason Herrick
is back after coming off two knee injuries. He scored 13 points in 17 games as a freshman for the Terps in 2006.
