MORNING BRIEFING: Goalie scores from 90 yards!

Freshman goalie Mo Isom scored a goal from 90 yards to lead LSU past BYU, 4-1, on Monday night in Baton Rouge.

With BYU goalkeeper McKenzie Olson coming off her line to defend LSU's pressing front line, Isom's free kick took one bounce over her head and into the net.

"I'm in shock right now," Isom said. "I was not expecting to do that at all when I took that free kick. I felt the [BYU] goal in the first half was my fault. That just gave me the momentum, and I kicked that one with everything I had. I've never done anything like that before."

Michelle Makasini, Melissa Clarke and Roslyn Jones also scored for the Tigers. who extended their school record home unbeaten streak to 13 games.

"It was a great game. We just started to wear them down in the second half," said LSU head coach Brian Lee. "On our night, we can really go forward."

CONNECTICUT SHOCKER. In the first major upset of the women's season, Central Connecticut knocked off Connecticut, ranked No. 15 in this week's Soccer America Top 25.
