his transfer. Earlier in the day, City had reached an agreement on a $60 million fee for the Bulgarian international, who had his heart set on signing with United. But United matched the offer and
threw in 20-year-old striker Fraizer Campbell
on loan for the 2008-09 season. With an hour to go before the Monday midnight deadline, United had its man.

Just minutes before the end of the transfer window, City confirmed the signing of Robinho for a British record $58.5 million transfer.
