5. ODP: US Youth Soccer champions crowned in Frisco

Teams from North Carolina ('89 boys), Eastern Pennsylvania ('89 girls), Illinois ('91 boys) and New Jersey ('91 girls) were crowned Sunday at the US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships in Frisco, Texas.

Three Cal South teams reached the finals, where they all lost. Michigan was the only other state association to send three teams to the national championships, where they all finished fourth in their divisions.

1989 Boys
North Carolina 4 Arizona 1. Goals: Lomax 10, King 42, Shull 51, Haglund 74; Parsons 28.
1989 Girls
Eastern Pennsylvania 1 Cal South 0 (OT). Goal: Alwine 109.
1991 Boys
Illinois 3 Cal South 3. Goals: Mascitti, O'Leary, Gutierrez; Fitzpatrick, Ramirez (2).
(Illinois wins on penalties.)
1991 Girls
New Jersey 2 Cal South 1. Goals: DeLaurentis 46, Wagner 49; Burright 7.
