South American teams call up U.S.-based U-17 girls

Surprise South American champion Colombia has called up three U.S.-based players and runner-up Brazil has brought in one player for training camps that begin this week to prepare for the Under-17 Girls World Cup being held later this fall in New Zealand.

Colombia has called up Laura Hernandez (Lake Oswego Dynasty, Ore.), Ana Montoya (Crossfire, Wash.) and Vanessa Aponte (FC America, Fla.) for its camp Sept. 9-24 in Bogota.

Adriana Rodrigues, who plays for the Clearwater (Fla.) Chargers and St. Petersburg High School, has been called back into Brazil's U-17 girls national team camp Sept. 8-20 at the Brazilian national training center in Teresopolis.
