Real Salt Lake is training in Fresno for its friendly against the local team, Fresno Fuego. Of course, Freddy Adu is there training with his teammates, but to the chagrin of Fresno Bee reporter Matt
James, he won't be around when RSL faces the fourth-tier American club: on Thursday he'll be off to another training camp with the U-20 national team.
Woops, well there goes his story.
Instead, James pipes on about the fact that the kid celebrity is actually in town, and what a shame it is that the folks in Fresno won't get a chance to see the league's second-most famous player
after David Beckham-both for the sake of attendance and for the fact that not much happens in Fresno.
It's likely that Adu denied his interview request, given that James speaks at length
with Jason Kreis and Eddie Pope about what it's like to play alongside the wunderkind, yet there's nothing from Freddy himself. Meanwhile, not much is said about his soccer ability: James instead
issues missives about the pop-star girlfriend Freddy had and the car he bought when he first signed with the league.
