U.S. U-17 boys national team sweeps matches at Nomads

The U.S. U-17 boys national team swept matches at Southern California's Nomads in the second of a series of stops at U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs.

The U-17s' older team downed the Nomads, 5-3 in the U-17/18 age group at Kinsell Field. It got two goals from Jack McInerney and Luis Gil and one goal from 14-year-old Alfred Koroma, the youngest player in residency.

The U-17s' younger team beat the Nomads, 3-1, in U-15/16 play on two goals by Dustin Corea and a goal by John Agudelo. Both players are first-semester residents.

The Nomads teams recently returned from a two-week preseason camp. Most of their preparation took place in La Jolla, its home base north of San Diego, but they rounded it out with four days at the U.S. Olympic Committee's Arco Training Center in Chula Vista, near the Mexico border.

The U-17s' tour continues when they head to Sockers FC, the Chicago area powerhouse, for games the weekend of Oct. 4-5.
