8. U.S. CLUB SOCCER: Wright re-elected as chairman

Phil Wright has been re-elected to a new two-year term as chairman of the U.S. Club Soccer board of directors. In addition, Duke University men's coach John Rennie has been elected as Vice-Chairman. Rounding out the executive committee are Mike Sweeney and Derek Armstrong, who will also serve two-year terms.

Wright, the former president and director of coaching at Sacramento area club San Juan Soccer Club, has served as chairman since 2003. Rennie also sits on the board for Triangle FC in North Carolina. Sweeney is the president of Cleveland Whitecaps SC, and Armstrong is the director of coaching for the Nomads Soccer Club in the San Diego area and men's coach at UC San Diego.

In recent elections, Sweeney, Armstrong and Vicki Sanford (Brentwood, Tenn., SC) were re-elected to two-year terms. In addition, Mike Lyons (Vision Gold Soccer and Wall, N.J. Soccer) was elected to the board for the first time.
