& Tobago, Guatemala 4; Cuba 0.
The USA will qualify with a win over Cuba, while the winner of the Guatemala-Trinidad & Tobago will move into second place.
Soca Warriors have brought back Dwight Yorke
(who missed last month's game against the USA) and Russell Latapy
national team veterans dating back to the Italia '90 qualifying campaign, for one last hurrah. GROUP 2
Jamaica vs. Mexico
(first game: Mexico 3-0) Honduras vs. Canada
(first game: Honduras 2-1) Standings:
Mexico 9 points; Honduras 6; Canada 1, Jamaica 1. Theodore Whitmore
will be in charge for Jamaica as interim coach after Brazilian Rene Simoes
was fired last month. Former England international John Barnes
will take charge of the Reggae Boyz in November
but it could be too late by then.
Mexico will also move on with a win or a tie (if Canada doesn't win). Honduras will also advance with a win and Jamaica toe or loss.
Canada, meanwhile is in turmoil. Jim Brennan
announced Tuesday he won't play for the national team as long as Dale
is the coach. GROUP 3
Haiti vs. El Salvador
(first game: El Salvador 5-0) Suriname vs. Costa Rica
(first game: Costa Rica 7-0) Standings:
Costa Rica 9 points; El Salvador 6; Haiti, Suriname
Costa Rica and El Salvador both won their matches against Haiti and Suriname quite easily. The Ticos will clinch a berth in the final round of qualifying with a win or tie,
while El Salvador will advance with a tie at Haiti.
