MORNING BRIEFING: Mid-American leader Central Michigan changes coaches

Assistant coach Tom Anagnost has been appointed head coach of Mid-American leader Central Michigan for the remainder of the 2008 season after Tony DiTucci resigned from his position for personal reasons.

DiTucci was in his fifth season as head coach at CMU and left with a 5-0-1 MAC record in 2008 -- the Chippewas' best start ever in conference play -- and 10-2-1 overall. His career record was 43-34-8 record.

"Tony has indicated he will be accepting another professional opportunity closer to his family," said Athletics Director Dave Heeke.

CMU split a pair of MAC games over the weekend in its first games under Anagnost, who is in his second season with the Chippewa program. He came to CMU from Flint Powers Catholic High School where he coached both the girls and boys teams for four and a half years.
