Milan Claims Beckham Has Agreed To Loan

David Beckham has agreed to join AC Milan on loan in January, the club's Vice President Adriano Galliani told the BBC. "Beckham has chosen Milan," said Galliani. "He'll stay here in Milan on loan for a few months. Our squad is ultra-competitive and it will remain this way but Beckham is something different and intriguing."

Beckham has been told by England manager Fabio Capello that he will not be considered for England's friendly against Spain in February unless he is playing competitive soccer. He is two caps shy of Bobby Moore's record 108 appearances for England, and is determined to play at the 2010 World Cup.

On-message Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti claimed to be happy at the prospect. "For me it will be a pleasure, Beckham is a serious athlete, a great professional," Ancelotti said. "If he is available for four months with us, we will be very happy." The real reason for the signing, though, was revealed in Galliani's comments to Italian daily Corriere della Sera: "Football today is about full stadiums and sponsors and superstars like Beckham fill them up. With him, Kaka and Ronaldinho, it will be a dream team."
