Osorio: We Let Ourselves Down

Saturday's 3-1 win over a weakened Columbus team proved to be a false dawn for RB New York as it crashed 5-2 to Chicago Thursday, and coach Juan Carlos Osorio was under no illusions about the merits of his side's playoff-threatening performance.

"After a performance like that, I have a very big question mark as to [whether] we deserve to be in the playoffs," Osorio said. "I think it is unacceptable. We let everybody down, mainly ourselves. I could criticize every single goal. From the first goal, I thought we were not doing what we were supposed to do. We were making [grade] school errors. We played very bad today."

Osorio praised his former club Chicago as "the best team in the league," and said that they have "a couple of players who can really kill you." His star forward Juan Pablo Angel, who scored a gourmet header to level the game at 1-1, said that losing two goals soon after equalizing had made it impossible to come back. "In any league in the world, against any team, it is very hard to come back when you are down like that."

"It was the most important game of the season," Angel added. "I thought our confidence was high enough for us to play well here, but we didn't do it."
