TOURNAMENT WATCH: Big East quarterfinals

Louisville, which had spent most of the season in the Soccer America Top 25 until a recent slump, beat West Virginia, 2-0, in the first round of the Big East Tournament.

A own goal in the 71st minute gave the Cardinals the lead. They put the game away with less than two minutes remaining on a goal by J.T. Murray.

-- Junior back Bryan Minogue scored his first career goal with 83 seconds remaining in the second half to lead Providence to a 2-1 victory over Villanova that improved the Friars' hopes of getting an NCAA Tournament bid.

First-round play concludes Thursday when Georgetown hosts Cincinnati. Quarterfinal play takes place Saturday and Sunday.
