U.S. products to face off in playoffs

[AMERICANS IN MEXICO] The quarterfinals of the Apertura 2008 include a faceoff between young American defenders Edgar Castillo (Santos) and Michael Orozco (San Luis). And on the last day of regular season play, Daniel Hernandez received his third red card of the season.

Pachuca, for whom 21-year-old Texan Jose Francisco Torres played 14 of 17 games in the regular season, finished a point behind defending champ Santos in Group 1 and misses postseason play.

In the final weekend of regular-season action, Castillo, the New Mexico product who has chosen to play for Mexico, played the full 90 in a 0-0 tie with Atlante that ensured both teams would qualify from Group 1. Castillo appeared in all of Santos' regular-season games.

Orozco, the Californian who played for the USA at last summer's Olympics, was yellow-carded in the 21st minute of San Luis' 1-0 loss to Toluca. San Luis qualified for the playoffs by winning Group 3, finishing two points ahead of Toluca. Orozco, 22, played in seven regular-season games, going the full 90 in the last four.

Hernandez, whose Jaguares missed the playoffs, was ejected (two yellows) in a 4-1 loss at Cruz Azul. Hernandez, 32, received eight yellows and three red cards this season, in which he appeared in 13 games.
