6. TV PREVIEW: PSV is underdog against Liverpool

TUESDAY: UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals
PSV-LIVERPOOL (TV: ESPN2, live, 2:30 pm)

PSV, the surprise winner over Arsenal in the round of 16, will be a heavy underdog again when it faces another English club, Liverpool, Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.

PSV is riddled with injury problems. Brazilian defender Alex, the hero of the Arsenal series, and Ivorian striker Arouna Kone are sidelined, while youngster Ibrahim Afellay, who debuted for the Netherlands last week in Euro '08 qualifying action, is doubtful with a hamstring injury picked up during Saturday's 1-1 draw at NAC.

Patrick Kluivert, who helped Ajax win the 1996 European Cup and has scored 30 goals in eight seasons, is one option for PSV coach Ronald Koeman. He has made only one Champions League appearance for the Eindhoven club since returning to the Netherlands this season.

Liverpool, which beat (2-0) and tied (0-0) PSV when they met in the group stage, is coming off a 4-1 demolition of Arsenal in which Peter Crouch scored a hat trick. Crouch should get the start up front with Dutchman Dirk Kuyt at the Philips Stadium. Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano, excellent in the win over Arsenal, should keep his spot in the starting lineup against PSV.

PSV: 1-Gomes; 2-Kromkamp, 14-da Costa, 23-Salcido, 28-Sun Xiang; 11-Mendes, 6- Simons, 8-Cocu, 7-Vayrynen, 15-Culina; 17-Farfan.
Liverpool: 25-Reina; 3-Finnan, 23-Carragher, 5-Agger, 2-Arbeloa; 20-Mascherano, 8-Gerrard, 14-Xabi Alonso, 6-Riise; 15-Crouch, 17-Kuyt.
