8. YOUTH: U-16 boys to play in Mondial

The U.S. U-16 boys national team will play in the 35th annual Mondial Minimes hosted by tiny French club FC Montaigu. The Americans are competing in the 12-team Challenge Nations, where they face England on Wednesday and Ireland on Thursday.

U.S. Under-17 assistant coach Raul Diaz Arce, the former El Salvador and MLS star, will lead the '91s. His squad includes a mix of players currently in residency and players the coaching staff is looking at possibly inviting in for the next semester.

Diaz Arce is taking FC Dallas draft pick Abdus Ibrahim and 13-year-old phenom Charles Renken, as well as six other U-17 residents Gale Agbossoumonde, Kofi Sarkodie, Amobi Okugo, Scott Caldwell, Dersu Abolfathi and Ryan Finley.

Other players are goalkeepers Cody Mizell (Cobb FC, Ga.), Keegan Gunderson (Wings, Minn.), defenders Alexander Herrera (Springfield YC, Va.), Luis Herrera (Texas Celtics), Chad Barson (Ohio FC Mutiny), Reginald Phelps (Team Boca, Fla.) and Parker Walsh (Roanoke Star, Va.) and midfielders Korey Veeder (Clearwater Chargers, Fla.), Ben Speas (Everest SC, Ohio) and Kadeem Dacres (Hota Bavarian SC, N.Y.)
