The English media love the early rounds of the FA Cup because they get the chance to list the mundane jobs of the lower league team's semipro players. Fifth-tier Histon Town duly provided the
"delivery" headlines after it knocked 2001 Champions League semifinalst Leeds United out of the competition Sunday on a headed goal by mailman
Matt Langston.
Histon will now compete in the third round, when Premier League teams enter the draw, with a home game against Championship (second-tier) club Swansea City. Leeds, described in the Mirror match report
as "simply awful," was beaten by a team that included captain
Mat Mitchel-King, who "also works as a model and has been a body double for [Manchester United captain]
Rio Ferdinand," as well as an "estate agent, a tube [London Underground] worker and a househusband."
"I always had the feeling that we could do
something," said Histon manager
Steve Fallon. "We had a bit of luck but then teams that get this far in the FA Cup need luck. They [Leeds] are not the European Cup side of
seven years ago. They are only a few places above Swindon and we beat them in the last round."
