SMALL COLLEGES: West Florida and Seattle Pacific reach D2 women's final

West Florida and Seattle Pacific advanced to Saturday's final (TV: CBS College Sports, live, 3:30 p.m. ET) in the NCAA Division II Women's Tournament with convincing wins Thursday at Tampa's Pepin Stadium.

UWF received goals from Jodi Galucci, Dernelle Mascall, Jordan Stone and Jamaican transfer Shaneka Gordon with a 4-0 win over St. Rose and improved to 24-0-1 on the season.

"Coming into the game we didn't know what to expect," said Argos coach Joe Bartlinski.  "Early in the match, we wanted to see what they were going to do.  We had to work hard for all of our goals; they didn't give us anything."

Sophomore forward Amanda Johnson scored two goals and assisted on the third to send Seattle Pacific into the final with a 3-1 semifinal victory over Metro State.

"This is how it should go. This is our third time here in four years, we should come out confident," SPU coach Chuck Sekyra said. "We knew what to expect. I've got a very intelligent team and they've learned that you have to get after it from the first minute."
