Galaxy triumphs in New Zealand exhibition

[MLS] A two-for-one ticket deal failed to fill the 32,000-capacity Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand but the 16,600 who did show up were by all accounts satisfied with the performance of David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy in a 3-0 win over the Oceania All-Stars.

Beckham forced a fine save by former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich with a volley in the 2nd minute but Jovan Kirovski, Alan Gordon and Brandon McDonald were the ones who hit the net for the Galaxy. All goals came in the first half.

Kirovski, who joined the Galaxy from San Jose after the 2008 season, scored in the 3rd minute with a volley after Gordon set him up.

In the 14th minute, Gordon beat Bosnich with a header from eight yards to finish a sequence that involved Beckham and Eddie Lewis, who delivered the cross. McDonald's goal also came on a header, off a Beckham corner kick.

The Galaxy's Josh Tudela was sent off for his second yellow card in the 68th minute.

Beckham is now off to join Italian Serie A club AC Milan on loan until the start of the MLS season in March.
