Maryland rolls to 14th win in a row

Maryland is returning to the Men's College Cup for the first time since winning the national title in 2005 thanks to a 1-0 win over Creighton on Saturday at Ludwig Field. Costa Rican-born Rodney Wallace scored the game's only goal when he came up from his left back position and scored on a header off Michael Marchiano's free kick.

The win was the Terps' 14th in a row and gave them 21 on the year -- a program-best.

"It feels great to be back," Maryland coach Sasho Cirovski, who is headed to his sixth College Cup, said. "I couldn't be more proud of our team right now. I thought we played a Creighton team that was as competitive as they come. We knew this was going to be a real combative game and a real high energy game."

Maryland enjoyed a huge edge in the play, outshooting the Bluejays, 17-5.

Creighton's best chance came early in the second half when Byron Dacy unloaded a shot that just went outside the far post.

The loss snapped Creighton's 15-match unbeaten streak.
