Following in the footsteps of U.S. international Charlie Davies
, Boston College senior forward Alejandro Bedoya
has signed with a
Bedoya, 21, has joined Orebro SK on a three-year contract after scoring six goals and registering five assists in his final collegiate season, during which he was named as
one of 15 semifinalists for the Hermann Trophy. He was a two-time all-ACC first team selection and conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2007, his first year at Boston College following a
transfer from Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Floridian trained with the U.S. under-20 and Olympic teams during his collegiate career but has never played for the United States. In 72 college
games at FDU and BC he scored 27 goals and logged 23 assists.
In the recently completed Allsvenskan (Swedish First Division) season, Orebro finished seventh, two places and one point
ahead of Hammarby, for which Davies scored 14 goals. Davies left BC after the 2006 college season, forsaking an MLS offer worth nearly $1 million during its duration, and has drawn interest from
clubs elsewhere in Europe. French club Sochaux is reportedly among the bidders. He has two years remaining on his Hammarby contract.
