JUNIOR COLLEGE: Cerritos sweeps CCCAA championships

Cerritos College, best known as Marcelo Balboa's alma mater, became the first team in more than a decade to sweep the California Community College Athletic Association men's and women's soccer championships with wins at the final fours held in Santa Clarita.

The Falcon men won their second state title in three years with a 1-0 win over Mt. San Antonio on an early own goal.

The women defeated Santa Rosa, 4-2, in overtime to repeat as champions. Corina Villegas scored both overtime goals in a span of three minutes in the first stanza to finish with a hat trick.
