Ziege Resigns At Moenchengladbach

Christian Ziege, assistant coach at Michael Bradley's Bundesliga team Borussia Moenchengladbach, has resigned just days after the team finished bottom of the German league at the season's halfway point.

The former Liverpool and Bayern Munich player was reportedly unhappy at having too little say in team matters. Also, his head coach Hans Meyer, appointed in October, had been repeatedly critical of the roster that Ziege had helped build in his previous position as director of soccer. That included Bradley's recruitment from Dutch club Heerenveen in the summer.

Moenchengladbach had its second-worst first half to the season in team history, with 11 points in 17 games. That was topped only by the 10 points it managed in its 1998-99 relegation season.
