Houston Makes Offer To Landin

The Houston Dynamo and Major League Soccer have made an offer to take Mexican forward Luis Angel Landin, 23, on loan for a year from Morelia Monarcas, reports Bernardo Fallas. The Mexican team would retain the player's rights and collect an undisclosed fee.

Houston's Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti called the discussions "very interesting" and said he was "hoping that we can get more feedback on this opportunity very soon. The talks are serious, and the interest is there. Now we have to see what Morelia wants to do."

With the Mexican Clausura (Closing Championship) kicking off next month, Morelia has about two weeks to make a decision, and Houston is hoping it comes sooner. "That Landin is a Mexican national team-caliber player," writes Fallas, "would be a plus for the Dynamo, who look to expand their fan base among Latinos, particularly those of Mexican descent, many of whom resist MLS in favor of the Mexican league. The team is currently one of two MLS clubs without a Latino player on its roster."
