Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp
has come through the honeymoon phase of his spell at White Hart Lane and is back to doing what Premier League
managers know best -- blaming referees for their team's defeats. After Tottenham lost, 2-0, at lowly West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, Redknapp said referee Steve
was so poor that it was "scary."
Redknapp was angry that Tanner failed to spot a push by Roman Bednar
on Michael Dawson
in the build-up to West Brom's first goal seven minutes from time. "My verdict on the referee?" Redknapp said. "I couldn't even begin to put into
words what I thought of his performance. To be honest, I walked into the referees' room and saw who was in charge and I knew what was coming. I expected that sort of performance."
"He's not good enough. He's poor. He's just a poor referee. I've seen him make a mess of so many games before, so what we saw today didn't surprise me. When I was in the Championship, I saw him and
I wondered then where he had come from. That's my honest opinion. I don't complain about referees. I never walk in after a game and complain about a referee. Never, never, ever. I haven't done for
years. I don't do that. But this guy today was scary. What can I do about it?"
Well, you can always moan and see your complaints published by every newspaper in the country.
