The Houston Dynamo has given up its pursuit of Mexican striker
Luis Angel Landin after the Morelia Monarcas forward signed a one-year loan deal with Mexican
First Division club Cruz Azul instead.
"We're out of the running," Dynamo Chief Operating Officer
Chris Canetti said Monday. Houston's offer
was apparently not good enough for Morelia, and Monarcas Sporting Director
Heriberto Ramon Morales said over the weekend he did not consider that the
Dynamo's approach amounted to a formal offer.
Canetti disagreed, saying the offer "was 100 percent formal and official. We went for it. We're disappointed by the outcome." On the
upside, team captain
Wade Barrett agreed to a new long-term deal last week, but the team is still trying to re-sign center back B
obby Boswell, who is out of contract and "mulling his options."
