Robinho Goes AWOL From City Training Camp

Having failed to secure the services of Kaka, Manchester City found itself without another Brazilian, striker Robinho, who went missing from the team's training camp in Tenerife on Monday.

The club refused to comment on reports that the player had returned to South America after falling out with City manager Mark Hughes. Other reports alleged that some current members of the City roster had talked Kaka out of his proposed move from Milan. Hughes has had run-ins with Robinho's compatriots Elano and Jo in recent weeks over disciplinary matters.

Robinho has scored 12 goals for the team since arriving last summer from Real Madrid, but is reportedly disappointed at the team's poor league position. According to the paper, "the striker has been giving Hughes some advice over his team building, claiming last week that even though he would like to see Kaka at Eastlands, defensive reinforcements were the priority."

City supporters who had been hoping to welcome Kaka for next week's Premier League game against Newcastle United will instead be presented with its new signing from West Ham, Welsh forward Craig Bellamy.
