Maurice Edu Turns Down Loan Option

U.S. national team midfielder Maurice Edu has said he turned down the possibility of a loan move away from Glasgow Rangers in order to stay at the club and fight for a first team place. Edu has played just twice for the Scottish club since his summer move from Toronto FC, and was also sidelined for five weeks with an ankle injury.

"I just want to focus on trying to get in the team here," Edu said. "A couple of people suggested me going on loan but I want to make my mark at Rangers. The coaches have been encouraging me and told me to be patient as my time will come. My former coach Mo Johnston gave me an idea of what to expect before I came and DaMarcus Beasley explained to me how competitive it is here as well."

Edu said there were two ways to deal with being out of the team. "You can either get depressed or keep motivating yourself and try to work hard," he said.
