3. EUROPE: Milan and Liverpool reach semifinals

AC Milan cruised to a 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in Munich to win their UEFA Champions League quarterfinals series, 4-2, on aggregate and move into the semifinals of the Champions League against Manchester United.

Milan looked to be in trouble ater having to settle for a 2-2 tie at home with Bayern, but first-half goals by Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi -- set up by a nifty Seedorf back flick -- were enough to send the Rossoneri into the final four.

Milan has lost only once to Bayern in 10 European meetings since they first met in 1968.

"We didn't have the technical class that Milan had," said Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld. "They're one of the best teams in the world and we saw that."

Peter Crouch's volley in the 67th minute gave Liverpool a 1-0 victory over visiting PSV in a quarterfinal series that was decided a week earlier. The Reds effectively wrapped up the series a week earlier with a 3-0 win in Eindhoven. Crouch, who scored in both games against PSV, now has five goals in his last four games.

Three minutes earlier, PSV had 18-year-old defender Dirk Marcellis sent off Marcellis was sent off in the 64th for a challenge on fellow Dutchman Boudewijn Zenden.

The victory sets up an all-English Champions League semifinal between Liverpool and Chelsea.
