4. FA CUP: United and Chelsea are heavily favored

Manchester United and Chelsea are heavily favored to win their semifinal matches in the English FA Cup.

United, the Premier League leader, faces last place Watford at Birmingham's Villa Park on Saturday (TV: PPV-Setanta, live, 12:30 pm ET), while Chelsea, which last weekend moved to within three points of United in the EPL, faces Blackburn Rovers at Manchester's Old Trafford on Sunday (TV: Fox Soccer Channel, delay, 11 am ET).

Watford is virtually assured of being relegated but is coming off a 4-1 victory over Portsmouth on Monday, two days after Portsmouth had beaten Manchester United, 2-1.

"I would have been devastated if we had put up the white flag," Watford's manager Aidy Boothroyd said after Portsmouth win. "It was important to win before an even bigger game on Saturday."

Chelsea will face a red-hot goalie in American Brad Friedel, who hasn't allowed a goal in Blackburn's last four FA Cup games.

If Manchester United and Chelsea prevail, they would remain on course toward a historic showdown for three titles in May.

The EPL title will probably be decided when United and Chelsea meet on May 9 in their makeup game. The FA Cup final will take place at the new Wembley Stadium on May 19, and the UEFA Champions League final will be played May 23 in Athens. United and Chelsea moved into the semifinals with wins on Tuesday.

The FA Cup is the only one of the trophies Chelsea is chasing that its manager, Jose Mourinho, has not won.

"I want to be in the final very much," he said, "and if it is Manchester United, it is Manchester United, or if it's Watford, it's Watford."
