6. UEFA CUP: Spanish clubs dominate

Defending champion Sevilla joined by Spanish rivals Osasuna and Espanyol in the semifinals of the UEFA Cup when it tied Tottenham, 2-2, at White Hart Lane to win its quarterfinal series, 4-3, on aggregate.

Sevilla stunned Spurs with two goals -- the first an own goal by Steed Malbranque and the second by Mali international Frederic Kanoute -- in the opening eight minutes to take control of the series. Substitute Jermain Defoe and Aaron Lennon scored in the second half for Spurs, which needed four goals to overtake Sevilla.

Germany's Werder Bremen also reached the final four as striker Miroslav Klose scored twice in a 4-1 victory over Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
