8. U.S. ABROAD: Enfield lands in Australia

American Michael Enfield, who played 11 games in two seasons with MLS's Los Angeles Galaxy, signed a two-year contract with Australia's Sydney FC after impressing during his one-month trial with the Hyundai A-League club.

The 23-year-old Enfield scored a goal in his Sydney FC debut against Wollongong Wolves and had a hand in every one of his new team's three goals after coming on after halftime against Marconi Stallions. Both games were friendlies.

The UCLA product cannot play for Sydney FC in its AFC Champions League Group E games against Persik Kediri, Shanghai Shenhua and Urawa Reds -- the Australian club is third after three games -- but he would be eligible to play if Sydney qualifies for the competition's knockout phase, which kicks off in September.
