SPARQ testing is increasingly used as a tool to evaluate a player's athleticism, in particular in soccer. Gavin Robertson of FC Milwaukee and George Fradenburg of Birmingham (Ala.) United) rated the highest in testing done at the Development Academy's recent Winter Showcase.

The overall SPARQ (speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness) rating is derived from the four key soccer-specific athletic tests: yo-yo intermittent recovery test, 20-meter sprint, arrowhead agility and vertical jump.
