Shannon MacMillan leaves UCLA for DMCV Sharks

Olympic gold medalist Shannon MacMillan has left her position as assistant coach at UCLA to take the position of director of coaching for competitive girls with Southern California's Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks.

MacMillan, 34, was instrumental in leading the USA to the 1996 women's soccer gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics. She retired from international play in 2006 and then joined the Bruins' staff.

UCLA reached the Women's College Cup in both MacMillan's seasons in Westwood.
