After years as one of the key players in the formation and every day operations of Major League Soccer, former MLS Deputy Commisioner Ivan Gazidis
now finds himself across the Atlantic at
Arsenal, where he wears the title of CEO along with his red Gunners scarf.
"It's very different being a league executive and being neutral and being a team executive and living with
every bounce of the ball," Gazidis told MLSnet.com's Dylan Butler. "The entire focus of the whole week, not only of the club, but of the public, the country, the media, is on the upcoming game.
It's a very dramatic feeling."
But while Gazidis might be enjoying the spoils of life and the atmosphere of the English Premier League, he makes sure to clarify that although the
prevailing notion is that everything in European soccer is "bigger and better and more advanced," at least in the business realm, "I think MLS is every bit as sophisticated a business as any
that exists in the world of soccer."
