Speaking to the AP yesterday, Spanish striker Raul
stated that he's considering, retiring, at least momentarily, in 2011 after two more seasons with Real Madrid, where he recently surpassed
legend Alfredo di Stefano
as the team's all-time goalscorer.
"It is a difficult situation because you always want to go out when you are at the top," admitted Raul, who will
faces off against Liverpool Wednesday in the Champions League Round of 16. "But when you are doing so well you have to ask, 'Why am I going now?'"
Sounding like the opposite of a recent
graduate wanting to backpack around Europe for a year after toiling in an American university, Raul confessed that after his many years in Europe, he'd like to travel and perhaps "as an
experience, not just for me but also for my family, I could try to play a year probably in the United States."
