D.C. United's P.G. stadium plans derailed

[MLS] So much for P.G. United. D.C. United's efforts to find a home in Maryland's Prince George's County suffered a setback when Prince George's County Council voted to oppose legislation authorizing Maryland to study plans for a 24,000-seat soccer stadium.

Delegate Doyle L. Niemann (D-Prince George's) told the Washington Post the vote "guarantees a quick and final death" for the bill.

After D.C. United's efforts to get a stadium project off the ground in the District of Columbia failed, it turned its attention to suburban Maryland.

It drummed up lots of support for the stadium, but Prince George's politicians expressed concerns about the viability of the project.
