Guadalajara named Francisco Ramirez
, the assistant to former Mexico coach Sven-Goran Eriksson
best known for his run-in with Frankie Hejduk
after February's USA-Mexico qualifier, has been named its new coach, replacing Omar Arellano
, who was fired on Wednesday after
only three matches on the job. The change came on the eve of Sunday's Super Clasico between Chivas and Club America at the Jalisco Stadium.
Ramirez is the ninth coach to lose his job at
Chivas since owner Jorge Vergara
bought the team in 2002. "He knows the players, he has the discipline we are looking for and he can exercise leadership
over the players," says Vergara.
