The FCT Police Machine soccer team has qualified for the finals of the 2009 State Challenge Cup in Nigeria.
Elated by the feat, Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro
has charged the team to "fly the baton to greater heights so as to hoist the Nigeria Police flag at the venues of any national football competition".
Okiro also noted that
sports can serve as a positive instrument in police-public interaction. He hopes the team's qualification will facilitate an avenue for greater communication between the police and the general
public, which should improve the efforts of the Nigeria Police to prevent and control crime.
