[AMERICANS ABROAD] In his first season in France,
Carlos Bocanegra will have a chance to win a trophy as Rennes moved into
the final of the French Cup with a 1-0 win at Grenoble on Tuesday. The shutout was the fifth in five games -- four against Ligue 1 teams -- for Rennes, which earned a place in the French Cup final
for the first time in 38 years.
Moussa Sow's first-half goal on a header was the difference in the game.
Instead of his usual
position at left back, Bocanegra played in the middle of the backline.
Rennes will face Toulouse or Guingamp at the Stade de France in the final on May 9.
Grenoble's
best chance came when
Pierre Boya hit the woodwork shortly before the interval.
Rennes' run:
Sochaux 1-0
St. Etienne 2-0
Lorient 3-0
Rodez 2-0
Grenoble 1-0
