Edgar Castillo called in by Aguirre for El Tri

[MEXICO] U.S. product Edgar Castillo was named to the first training camp roster called in by new Mexico coach Javier Aguirre.

Castillo, 22, who has played friendly games for Mexico, was named to its roster for Mexico's last World Cup qualifier, at Honduras, by Sven-Goran Eriksson but couldn't join the team because he lost his passport.

Castillo, a New Mexico product, started his south of the border career with Santos, which he helped to a league title, before moving to Club America.

Aguirre did not call in naturalized South American-born players Leandro Augusto, Antonio Naelson "Zinha" and forward Matias Vuoso, whose selection has been a matter of controversy in Mexico. Nor did he call in European-based players for the Mexico City training camp.

Mexico lost two of its three final-round qualifying games, at the USA and at Honduras, and beat Costa Rica at home. Its next qualifier is June 6 at El Salvador.

Aguirre will not have the benefit of tune-up game before the El Salvador clash. Plans for a May 20 friendly at Argentina fell through.
