RSL Flirts with Perfection Against the Revs

If the perfect soccer game exists, then Real Salt Lake experienced what it feels like on Saturday night against the New England Revolution at the Rio Tinto Stadium. Offense and defense dovetailed on Saturday night for the Utah side in a 6-0 victory.

After threatening in the first half, RSL poured in six goals in the second, including Clint Mathis' stunning volley into the top corner. The team also produced its first shutout of the season, limiting the Revs to a single shot on goal in each half.

"Almost everything that happened tonight was flawless for our team," RSL coach Jason Kreis said. "It just doesn't happen enough. We've been involved in so many games where you play so well and you feel so proud of what's out there and don't get the result."
