The top players in Major League Soccer will face English Premier League team Everton in the July 29 MLS All-Star game at Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City. Everton, whose goalkeeper is American
Tim Howard, recently advanced to the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 30 and is in sixth place in the English Premier League.
The Toffees' squad includes
England veteran
Phillip Neville and recent England call-up
Joleon Lescott. Its foreign players include
Tim Cahill (Australia),
Marouane
Fellaini (Belgium),
Louis Saha (France) and
Joseph Yobo and
Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Nigeria).
Five of the 13 MLS All-Star Games
have been against foreign clubs and the MLS All-Stars have won them all. Last year, the MLS All-Stars defeated beat West Ham United, 3-2. They beat Glasgow Celtic, 2-0, in 2007; Chelsea 1-0, in
2006; Fulham, 5-1, in 2005; and Chivas Guadalajara, 3-1, in 2003.
