, under contract to coach Arsenal until 2011, dismissed mounting speculation of a move to Real Madrid as "not an issue." Earlier this week, Wenger commented that a move
to Madrid would be a "strongly interesting" project. On Tuesday the club's chairman Peter Hill-Wood
defended Wenger from the criticism the manager received from Arsenal's
shareholders, which might have prompted Wenger to imply interest in Madrid.
"Frankly, some of the questions were quite disgraceful," Hill-Wood said. "There you have the most successful
manager in our history and two or three of the shareholders made the most negative and somewhat hostile and sarcastic comments, which I think were completely out of order."
