Everton took the lead with the fastest goal in FA Cup final history
when Louis Saha scored 25 seconds after kickoff. But Howard, who won the 2004 FA Cup with Manchester United, was beaten by Didier Drogba in the 21st minute on a close-range header and by Frank
Lampard, on a 20-yard strike in the 72nd minute.
Howard joined Man U in 2003 from the MLS MetroStars. He moved to Everton in 2006 and this year set a club record for shutouts (17) in
Glasgow Rangers did the double in Scotland when it followed up on its league title with a 1-0 win over Falkirk in the Scottish Cup final. Beasley, as has been the case of
late, was left off the squad. Edu, who played a key role in Rangers' run to the league title, was out injured.
Edu won a starting spot in April and played 12 league games this season.
He played in three Scottish Cup games. Beasley played in 10 league games but hadn't seen action since April. He played in one Scottish Cup game.
